"First they take Ugarte and then she walks in. Well, I guess that's the way it goes... one out and one in."

Suffice to say that things...are at somewhat of a low point for me right now. I want to apologize to anyone to whom I might be a little terse, right now. It's been a tough week, and I pretty much haven't been sleeping. Some very emotionally trying things have been going on, professionally and personally.

So, uh...Yeah. If I snap at you, please forgive me. I'm just...tired.

I'll be leaving for San Diego on the 22nd, for Comic Con International. If you're going to be there, and you wanna do some hanging out, contact me so that we can arrange that.

I'll also be in Baltimore for Otakon. Table A6, with Bohemian Trash Studios. If you'll be there, please come over and say "hello" and ask me for a sketch...'cause that would rock.

There's this kind of weird thing when you redo a drawing. If it's old enough, then you're pretty confident about doing a better job the second time. However, if it were more recent, then it can actually get hit-or-miss about which version was better. The chapter 3 pages are like that. (I'd initially done up to about page 7, in the old version of the comic.) I was really happy when I surpassed that point in the story, and got to where there was nothing to compare to.

This, however, is a page that I decidedly improved upon.

And now in sports...New page of "Dis"! Experience shows that my first page of a chapter is invariably the worst one. Ah, well. Gotta get through one lousy one before you can move on to the rest of the book, right? Try to enjoy it anyways.

Apologies to everyone for the recent site downtime. We were having some difficulties with our hosting server, but our provider fixed it up for us licketty-split! So all is well in the land where...squirrels are dead. =D

And wonderful, wonderful! I have my precious new scanner (as you might have heard) and it is a joy most true. I have so many new things to show you...Check back every day! I'm trying not to be TOO overwhelming on your RSS readers! Ha ha!

And what's especially new and special? The third chapter of Dis: Life is Hell! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! I hope you like it and feel it was worth the wait!

Been Watching: "The Venture Bros."

First bit of news: Bohemian Trash Studios will be at HeroesCon this weekend, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Booth 521. If you're going, make sure you stop by and say "hello", eh? It's a great opportunity to pick up your copy of "Dis" if you don't have one yet, pretty posters for your walls, and to discover your new favorite comic in the other BT titles. (Read "Zona". Seriously. It'll blow your mind out through your eyesockets, leaving two smoking craters in place of your eyeballs, giving off the curious aroma of gasoline and burnt bacon...and you will love it.)

In other news...My homeboy Dave is totally my hero. He's takin' advantage of his flextime hours to help me take my scanner to the repair shop. (It's too big for me to carry by myself.)

In other news...My alarm never went off today and I slept until 4pm. *Shakes head.*

So. 10am. Scanner arrives. It is as big as a horse.

10:30am. I have pants on, the scanner is unpacked, a spot for it is found, and I'm getting it all set up.

11am. Reinstalling driver. Repeatedly. Trying new outlets. New USB ports.

12pm. Calling technical support.

1pm. After talking to an incompetent idiot (I'm not saying that out of spite...He really was an idiot.) for an hour, I'm given the phone number to a repair shop.

1:30pm. Hysterical sobbing. I am now extremely susceptible to the lure of impulse shopping.

Oh, gawd, if one more person asks me when they're gonna see their pictures, I swear I'm gonna tell Zeus they're hopped up on stafylinos and it's open season on 'em...! D:<

Well, my bit of news for the evening--er, early morning; goodness how time flies when you're painting--is that I updated my portfolio the other day for the first time since February. Please take a look, and kindly let me know if there are any glaringly weak points, necessary substitutions, or grammatical errors. ^_^

JoJo's Portfolio

I've been thinking that perhaps I should establish some kind of set commission rates. I can only imagine that there's something unsettling about having to make an inquiry about prices. Unfortunately (like most artists, I think) I'm not really too good at pricing my own work. I fear I have the tendency to undercut myself. If anyone would like to help out with advice in that regard, I'd be most grateful.

*Sigh.* So...They just sent my new scanner.
I'm so anxious to get it! *Flails in anticipation!*

I've been pretty unproductive in this past month. I mean...I've been working on stuff, sure. But I've been sleeping too much. I don't like it.

My historic bad luck with motor vehicles continues.

My world was totally rocked yesterday when I woke up to find surprise fanart from one of my favorite artists, Yracema Chirilov!

Please check it out! She's such a fantastic cartoonist, and this was a real treat and honor!

It's Juno B.'s birthday. Go wish her a great one, eh? *Celebratory cake!*

You've probably noticed that the "Onieros" link has gone a-vanishing from the DSC main page top bar. Yeah...the novelization didn't work out. I'd forgotten what a slow writer I am. It's all right, though. I'm working in a way that's far more logical, now. I wrote out the timeline, and I'm expanding that into the story summary. Then I'll expand that into the script and then draw it. Meanwhile, I'm workin' majorly on the designs for the story--which, I'll confess, I've always done a half-assed job on.
